The Sectoral Agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and ESFTUG, which was made on 16 March, 2017, had a wide resonance among the trade union organizations in world and in Europe as well.
ETUCE, which unites 48 European countries and 11 million members, on April 4, at the committee session heard information from ESFTUG’s president about the sectoral agreement. Also, at the session has been presented video material covered a sectoral agreement ceremony.
After the presentation, ETUCE’s president, Christian Blower, executive director, Susan Flocken and representatives of Western, Central and Eastern European countries, in their speeches, gave high assessment to the recovery/development process of ESFTUG and its cooperation with government.
At the Committee was underlined radical change of the attitude of Ministry of Education and Science toward ESFTUG, which by the estimates of international representatives, is a clear sign of the ongoing democratic processes in the country.
ESFTUG as the only social partner in the issues of rights’ protection of employees from education system, which at present unites the more than 40000 employees, with the support of international organizations continues constructive dialogue with Ministry of Education and Science in order to improve teachers' labor, social–economic, legal and professional conditions.
At the sessions of ETUCE were intensively discussed the challenges stated before the ESFTUG.
On 3-5 April, the session of European Trade Union Committee for Education was very impressive for ESFTUG, while ESFTUG has shifted from the status of most difficult situation to the ranks of leading European organizations and it became exemplary in the respect of trade union fundamental values protection.
