On January 22, 2018 the ESFTUG President, Maia Kobakhidze, ESFTUG Executive Vice-President Mari Alugishvili and ESFTUG Vice-President, Natia Kordzadze visited Dedoplistskaro region. The aim of the visit was development and strengthening of the branch organization and fastening the members and attracting the new members.

The visit was organized by the head of Dedoplistskaro branch organization, Makvala Madzgaradze. The meetings were held in two villages of dedoplistskaro region: Upper-Kedi №2 and Pirosmani public schools’ employees.

Maia Kobakhidze, talked about the trade union’s role and functions, about the difficulties, which the organization passed since 2010, about the achievements in the field of employees’ labor, social-economic, legal and professional rights’ protection. She also talked about the most important success of the ESFTUG – the sectoral agreement, which was signed in 2017. Maia Kobakhidze explained what the organization is doing for its members’ professional development and for improving teachers' status. She talked about the project – “Teachers' Professional Development for improvement the teaching-learning quality”, which was conducted by the "The Center for Professional Development of Employees in Educational Institution”. 854 practicing teachers from 89 small contingent public schools of Kakheti, Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti region have participated in the project, among them were the teachers from Pirosmani public school. All participants got 1.5 credit. Maia Kobakhidze also talked about the organization’s future plans and challenges.

The Vice–President of ESFTUG Natia Kordzadze, explained the existing problems dedicated to teachers' maternity leave remuneration, and drew attention to other pressing socio–economic issues.

The visit in dedoplistskaro was busy and at the same time quite effective. The members of ESFTUG Dedoplistskaro branch organization were informed all news from the President and personally introduced their problems to her. One of the most heartbreak problem is total migration of population from the cross-border villages, which is the reason of pupils and teachers lack in these villages.

ESFTUG’s President with the participants of the meeting discussed the problems existing in the public schools and kindergartens and the ways of resolving these problems.
