The solidarity project – “Partnership on promoting education policy capacity, advocacy and school development in Georgia” is implemented by the National Trade Union of the upper secondary school teachers of Denmark (GL) in partnership with the Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG). ESFTUG is actively involved in the process of amending of legislative acts and bylaws.

Maia kobakhidze talked about the ESFTUG requirement:–“the teachers’ base salary should be increased gradually with the estimates that for 3-5 years it should equal the average salary of public employees. To solve this problem, the Government of Georgia should develop the program of the gradual growth of teachers' salary”. She explained to the participants of the seminar how important is the fact that ESFTUG is a member of the international organisation -“Education International” (EI) and “European Trade Union Committee for Education”(ETUCE) and she itself is a member of collegial body, wih the right to vote, which means that the ESFTUG represents the interests of employees of the educational system (union members and potential members), not only in our country but also the EU level. In addition, it means to get European standards and step by step implement them in our activities, in order to form the actually the trade union having western values.

Maia kobakhidze, hoped that, the seminar participants will become more activate on their places, in case of strengthening the organization, “in order to reach each teacher”. Only with the intensive communication will be the teachers faithful to trade union ideas and sincere towards the trade union values. “Our goal is that the memebers of ESFTUG were motivated and active,”–said Maia Kobakhidze.
