
Maia Kobakhidze, ESFTUG president opened the seminar. She thanked the Directors of the Gori municipality public schools for their interest to the topics of the seminar and talked in detail about the ongoing reforms in education sector and about the results, which were received from ESFTUG 2012-2016 initiatives and activities.
The participants of the seminar were given detailed information about the current processes in education system and the trade union visions according to these processes. The school directors informed Maia Kobakhidze about their approaches for public schools, how establish the adequate environmental conditions in schools with the taking into account quality-oriented pupils’ and teachers’ interests.
The ESFTUG president Maia Kobakhidze in her speech talked about the current social dialog between the Ministry of Education and Science and ESFTUG, which serves the support of the ongoing reforms and long-term programs in the education system. She pointed that the Sectoral Agreement, signed on March 16, 2017, is a guarantee for the protection of the labor, social-economic, legal and professional interests of the teachers and regulates the mutual obligations between parties.
Maia kobakhidze explained the audience that already more than 10 years the international organization-“the solidarity center,” is working closely with ESFTUG, the purpose of which is introducing the obligations of the cooperation between the ESFTUG and employers, recognized by the Georgian legislation and establishing the effective social partnership mechanisms.
The ESFTUG president Maia Kobakhidze thanked the head of the ESFTUG GOri regional organization Natia Gabroshvili for the revival of the regional organization and for her activities and efforts.
The head of the ESFTUG legal department, Grigol Bakuradze introduced seminar participants with school-related legal issues. He talked about the legislative requests of the teachers’ labor agreements, about the drafting processes of the disciplinary proceedings, about the equalizing the master’s degree with the status of teachers who obtained the four-year higher education before the years of 2000, which was changed by the ESFTUG active participation.
The ESFTUG vice-president in financial affairs, Natia Kordzadze, introduced the seminar participants the important normative acts related to social-economic issues for the improving of the teachers’ conditions, particular temporary disability and maternity leave compensation and other legal issues.
About 60 public schools’ directors took part in the seminar. The meeting was held in the question-answer mode.
