“The sun lights the world, the teacher lights our life” - under this slogan was conducted ESFTUG’s Shuakhevi branch organization’s reporting-election conference on May 19. Delegates together with ESFTUG’s president Maia Kobakhidze, vice-president Natia Kordzadze, head of ESFTUG’s Adjara Autonomous Republican organization Alexander Beridze, head of Shuakhevi Resource Center Eduard Gogrochadze, Khulo/Shuakhevi/Keda majoritarian MP Anzor Bolkvadze, Shuakhevi Municipality Mayor Zurab Putkaradze, head of Shuakhevi municipality council Giorgi Davitadze and representatives of Shuakhevi educational institutions attended the conference. Candidate of ESFTUG’s Shuakhevi branch organization’s head Levan Nataridze presented organization’s 4-year activity report and action plan to participants of conference. In his report he spoke about ESFTUG’s total achievements and success and also about Shuakhevi branch organization’s activities. "The past 5 years were quite heavy, but fruitful. During the reporting period, our main task was to return right of membership and authority for employees of educational institutions which was tarnished by the previous government and to recovery cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. During the reporting period we were able to implement not only these tasks, but also we were able to do important social activities inside the country and abroad as well“ - said Levan Nataridze. Today, ESFTUG is a member of the international organization "Education International" and a member of the European Trade Unions Education Committee. No significant international trade union event is held in the world, where ESFTUG does not participate as a successful organization.Levan Nataridze emphasized that since 2013 the trade union has actively engaged in education reforms, professional development of teachers, labor and legal rights of employees, social and economic development and improved conditions and has succeeded in many successes. He also emphasized that the teachers were dismayed and had more opportunity to get involved in the professional development scheme, improved labor and social conditions. Among these positive trends is the contribution of ESFTUG’s president Maia Kobakhidze. "Maia Kobakhidze, in a number of public addresses and TV debates and commissions, loudly announces business note and proposal, which in most cases is provided by the Ministry of Education. All positive results have been adopted in a format of constructive and social dialogue, not by street rallies and confrontation. "Open door is not required to break off, while every door is open for dialogue." Mrs. Maya often says. The trade union is not a political union and does not engage in political speculation. We are a professional union and we protect the interests and rights of our members, cooperate with the government and cooperate with all those who take care of the interests and rights of the employees in the education system. We will be incompatible with those who violate the rights and the authority of the teachers," said Levan Nataridze. The head of the Shuakhevibranch organization also spoke about the problems that are still in the educational system. According to him, modern school should be oriented on the school and all the reforms will improve the quality of teaching and the development of the teenager should help to develop this task, only the teacher can do. "Pedagogical activity requires the care of everyday professional development, the teacher is only a teacher when studying, but if the teacher is equal to the person with socially vulnerable status and the level of the teacher's salary is frozen, naturally we will not be able to achieve the desired results," said Levan Nataridze. Mr. Levan presented organization's future plans and objectives of the country and noted that the organization's main goal is to help teachers to be actively involved in teachers' professional development and career advancement in the scheme, take exams, accumulate the required credit score, pass on a higher level, to get high returns and improve living conditions. MrNataridze thanked organization members from Shuakhevi municipality Educational institutions (total 1253 employed, 1133 trade union members) for their support and trust, and called on the leaders to be more active, as the "The power of branch organization depends on primary organizations, the quality of their work, their capacity, trust and authority."The delegates and guests of the conference were welcomed by ESFTUG’s President Maia Kobakhidze.
