The Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG) is a professional, voluntary public association of people connected with common interests, which unites employees in the education system.

The Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia is a member of global federation of education trade unions- Education International (EI) and EI  European Region- European Trade Union Committee for Education  (ETUCE) and Georgian Trade Union Confederation (GTUC).

The Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG) is focused on social justice, democratic principles, quality education and professional development of its  members;


The mission of Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG) is carried out in two important directions:

  • Protect socio-economic, legal rights of teachers and the support staff of educational institutions
  • Take care of the professional development of the employees in educational and scientific institutions.

In each of these directions the organization is in the process of permanent development, which is based on active cooperation with members, community organizations, government and local self-government bodies.
 
ESFTUG GOALS AND OBJECTIVES 

  • Promoting the recognition of social status of education and science workers;
  • Protection and representation of members' labor, socio-economic, legal and professional rights and interests;
  • Caring for the improvement of workers' labor and social conditions;
  • Care for the necessary environment and conditions for quality and effective education;
  • Striving to ensure quality education for each child.

In order to achieve its goal, the ESFTUG conducts social dialogue with its social partner the Ministry of Education and Science to protect the interests of members and ensure quality education;

Is a collective defense and negotiating party for all instances, including the courts; Facilitates professional development of teachers and scholars.

ESFTUG LEGISLATIVE BASIS

The Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG) conducts its activities on the Constitution of Georgia, the Civil Code of Georgia, the Organic Law of Georgia - Labor Code, Law of Georgia on Trade Unions, the International Labor Organization Conventions, International Contracts and Agreements, Effective legislation and in accordance with the present Statute.


ESFTUG is an independent, voluntary,  union that protects labor, social and economic rights and freedoms of persons employed in different types of educational and scientific institutions existing in Georgia. It protects its members' interests and promotes the democratization of education.
ESFTUG is independent of its activities, from state authorities and local self-government bodies, employers, political parties, public associations or religious movements.

It is not accountable to the above-mentioned institutions and is not a subject to their control except for the cases prescribed by law.

Due to the interests of members, the ESFTUG is engaged in dealing with equality, social partnership, co-operation and mutual rights and obligations.
ESFTUG independently identifies its organizational-legal structure, chooses the management bodies and develops an action program in accordance with the Constitution of Georgia and the applicable legislation in order to protect social and economic, labor and legal interests of members.

ESFTUG does not create or belong to any political party and religious community.

ESFTUG is the non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity of private law. It has a seal, title sheet, emblem and accounts in banking institutions, possesses property, has property and personal non-property rights, is entitled to the plaintiff and the defendant in the court and arbitration.

ESFTUG operates on the entire territory of Georgia to perform its charter goals and objectives.
ESFTUG is founded for an indefinite period.
