In an interview with the newspaper “Versia” Maia Kobakhidze stressed that unfortunately the union is incapable to act when teachers’ society urgently needs to take action. Cooperation with the Ministry is still paused due to different reasons: endless court processes started from ESFTUG 6th Extraordinary Congress, unwillingness of the Ministry to collaborate until the final decision of the court, and lack of motivation and civic activism among educators themselves. According to Maia Kobakhidze, first of all, teachers should learn to stand together and express solidarity towards others’ problems.

Besides all those difficulties, ESFTUG continues to protect teachers’ interests. In August, a teacher, Ketevan Purtseladze, was dismissed from job for calling bailiff “a guard”. ESFTUG lawyers represent her in Court.

Maia Kobakhidze expressed her readiness to cooperate with a new Minister, Khatia Dekanoidze, and discuss various issues in education field together.
