 On June 15, the 8th reporting-election conference of RSFTUG’s Gurjaani branch organization was held. The conference was opened by the head of Gurjaani branch organization Esma Arsenishvili. The primary organizations of ESFTUG’s Gurjaani branch organization are represented by 740 members from 15 public schools and 34 kindergartens of Gurjaani municipality.

68 delegates elected by the primary organizations participated in the conference. The guests: Maia Beroshvili, chairman of the Social Issues, Culture, Education and Youth Affairs Commission of Gurjaani Municipality Sakrebulo; Lela Tevdorashvili, Director of Pre-school Educational Institutions in Gurjaani Municipality; Eka Tsiskarashvili, Head of the Culture, Education, Sports Worker Service of Municipality; Salome Bolkvadze, director of museum and museum union; Principals of public schools and kindergartens also attended the conference.

The head of Gurjaani branch organization informed the Delegates of the conference and the invited guests, about the activities carried out by ESFTUG at the state level. She spoke in detail about the decisions made by the Ministry of Education and Science on the basis of the request of the ESFTUG, which has improved professional, labor, social, economic and legal conditions of public school workers.

"The strategy and dedication of the ESFTUG’s president is to raise motivation for structural units and enable us to effectively implement trade union activities at local level" - said the speaker.

Esma Arsenishvili spoke about the main document of the sectoral agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science and the ESFTUG.

In the report of the head of ESFTUG’s Gurjaani branch organization was fully presented the events and activities implemented by the branch organization after the reporting-election conference in 2016:

Leader of Gurjaani branch organization noted that professional development of Gurjaani municipality teachers and professional development of educational institutions’ employees is one of the main directions.

During the reporting period, 90% of members were trained to raise their professional qualification.These trainings were prepared by ESFTUG’s "Professional Development Center for Employees in Educational Institutions". Trainings were conducted in two modules: "Psychology and Inclusion" and "School Readiness" for kindergartens’ staff. Trainings for public schools’ accountants and bookkeepers were also held.

In the reporting period, head of ESFTUG’s Gurjaani branch organization Esma Arsenishvili payed attention to the merited teachers and active members. To mark their contribution, they were awarded the diplomas and gifts.

The trade union’s strength is in the membership and activity of the members. In order to achieve this goal, the head of the Gurjaani branch organization intensely organized meetings with the primary organizations, for strengthening the organization and raising awareness of the members she made a propaganda of the trade union and informed the employees about the results of the activities of the ESFTUG.

On April 27, 2018, Esma Arsenishvili organized visit to Telavi Vazha Pshavela State Theater for 170 union members.

Delegates of the conference were welcomed by honorable guests. The importance of education in the process of country’s development was noted in their speeches and each of them expressed great respect for teachers and other employees of educational institutions. The speakers positively evaluated the activities of ESFTUG, in the field of protection of employees’ rights, as well as the activities carried out by the Gurjaani branch organization.

The discussion was held between participants of the conference. The delegates of the conference presented their proposals, their views on the processes in the general education system and discussed future priorities.

At the end of the reporting-election conference of the ESFTUG's Gurjaani Regional Organization, an open vote was approved by the members of ESFTUG’s Gurjaani branch organization and they elected 5 delegates of the ESFTUG’s IX reporting-electing congress.

Head of the Gurjaani branch organization, Esma Arsenishvili awarded the merit members with certificates for “Special Contribution to Trade Unions” as well as educational sector employers and other social partners "for the establishment of democratic values and effective social partnership".
