"The number of members gives us the opportunity to be a strong and effective professional union ... Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia does not spare the power to raise teacher's authority and to become this profession as a prestigious profession for future generations," - said gifted leader of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization Guliko Amlidze at the 3rd reporting-election conference, which was chaired by Tbilisi Public School #152 teacher Nana Tsiskaridze. On June 14 of the current year, the 3rd reporting-election conference of the ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization was held in Tbilisi #152 public school’s assembly hall. 88 delegates from the primary organizations of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization participated in the conference. The conference was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation Eter Matureli; ESFTUG’s president Maia Kobakhidze; ESFTUG’s vice presidents Mari Alugishvili and Natia Kordzadze; head of ESFTUG’s Education and Quality Management Department Temur Kiknadze; head of the Education and Culture Division of Samgori District Gamgeoba Beka Makashvili; head of ESFTUG's Isani branch organization Ketevan Kheteshvili; chairman of ESFTUG’s Mtskheta branch organization Giuli Chokheli, coordinator of the ESFTUG’s Organizational Department Anastasia Amisulashvili and principals of Samgori District kindergartens and public schools. ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization is comprised of 1325 employees of Samgori district public schools and pre-school institutions. Guliko Amalidze, the head of the ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization always shares joy, success and problems of the numerous organizations of Samgori district. She frequently visits union members at their workplaces, schools and kindergartens, she manages various meetings and activities, listens to the needs and comments of the members. Accordingly, each member is motivated. "The authority of the trade union starts with its leader's actions ... we should change the attitude – “what does trade union do for us" with the attitude – “what we, members do for trade union and solidarity". It would be good if each member understands the importance of the role and principles of the trade union in the activities" - said the leader of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization Guliko Amilidze, when submitting her report over the 2014-2018 period. Guliko Amalidze, leader of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization, always takes care of the professional growth of public schools’ and kindergartens’ employees, raising civic consciousness of the members and improving partnership and cooperation between employers and employees. During the reporting period, ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization’s member public school teachers were conducted different kinds of seminars and trainings, such as: self-assessment questionnaire, thematic planning, evaluation rubrics, create individual action plan, subject trainings, modeling lessons planning, training resources, and developing professional skills seminars. Seminars were conducted to promote professional growth of the pre-school institutions, on the following topics: "Legal Grounds for Preschool Institutions"; "Preschool and Education"; "Management of Human and Financial Resources of the Preschool Institution"; "Psychology and Inclusion" and "Readiness for School ". The two-day seminar was held on ESFTUG’s Tskneti training base for the principals and union members of Samgori district public schools and kindergartens. One day seminar was conducted for the principals, methodists and music teachers of kindergartens, as well as accountants of schools and kindergartens. The head of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization reminded the audience Iakob Gogebashvili's words - "The more care of the teacher's well-being, more appreciate and good treat and this is the best medicine to cure, restore and flourish our schools". Guliko Amilidze's report was emphasized the activities of ESFTUG at the state level, achieved through the efforts of the organization’s president and leaders' team at national and international levels. She thanked ESFTUG’s president Maia Kobakhidze for her selfless work and for raising authority of organization. The report emphasized that the district public schools’ teachers shared experience of Danish colleagues and they are involved in the ESFTUG's and the Danish upper-secondary public school teachers' union’s joint project: “Partnership on promoting education policy capacity, advocacy and school development in Georgia”. Guliko Amilidze, noted with regret that although ESFTUG’s activities are being implemented in improving the professional development, legal, professional and socio-economic conditions of the members, the union is still associated with excursions, trips and various single-time material assistance. Mrs. Guliko Amilidze introduced the conference delegates in detail, the material assistance provided to the members during the reporting period, Guliko Amilidze has named the lowest civic consciousness of the society of teachers and low level of solidarity as the main challenge of the trade union. "We all should work together to activate the members, to defend the professional and legal interests of the teachers ... We should not think that others will talk and act instead of me. If all of us stand together, the problems will be solved quickly" -the reporter told the delegates. Mrs. Guliko Amilidze listed charity and cognitive activities on the occasion of the anniversary dates organized by Samgori branch organization, in which actively were involved ESFTUG’s Samgori primary organizations. - In connection with the Teacher's International Day, merited teachers were awarded with certificates and valuable gifts; - Children of the union members, up to 500 children, attended the New Year's Eve and were awarded with gifts; -Traditionally, every year women and mothers’ days are celebrated. ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization members attended the performances of Tumanishvili Theater; - ESFTUG’s members, together with their family members, enjoy summer and winter vacation programs with discounted prices; -Corporate dinner was arranged for members of kindergartens of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization; -Member schools were awarded the amount of co-financing of excursions; -Round table - "Preschool Education and Socially Unprotected Children" was held in the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, where the kindergartens’ principals and educators participated. In the reporting period, charity events were held by the initiative and efforts of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization’s leader Guliko Amilidze: -In 2015 a charity event – “We also will be old” was held, where the beneficiaries of the virtue house “Katarzisi” were invited; In 2016, the action-concert "leukemia cures” was held. Pedagogues and their pupils took part in the concert. The amount received from the tickets, 4500 GEL, was distributed to 30 children with leukemia in M. Iashvili Children's Hospital In 2017 the action - "Kindness is transmitted" was held, within the framework of which the socially vulnerable families of Samgori district were provided with food products. The rapporteur thanked the Samgori district schools’ and preschools’ administrations and members for support, participation in various activities and contribution. "Most of the members are grateful for our work, some complain about various issues. We listen to them and try to stand as far as we can. It is said that the difficulty creates patience, patience - experience, experience - virtue. I'm working with these virtues and love with you"- with these words finished her report Guliko Amlidze. Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation Eter Matureli addressed the audience. She talked about personal qualities of Guliko Amilidze and praised his activities positively. Eter Matureli congratulated ESFTUG’s members on the fact that the ESFTUG is the only one between 21 trade unions of the Georgian Trade Unions, which has signed a "sectoral agreement" with the executive branch. Eter Matureli focused on women's rights and said that the head of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation Irakli Petriashvili is lobbying this issue at the international level. Ms. Eter Matureli said that equality of women and men, including the employment segment, should be more secure and called on women to be more active. The Deputy Chairman of the Trade Unions Confederation made explanations about the necessity of ratifying the 100th convention of International Labor Organization (ILO). ESFTUG’s president Maia Kobakhidze presented the delegates of the Samgori branch organization conference, presentation on current results and current issues and future priorities of the organization. Maia Kobakhidze thanked Guliko Amilidze, the leader of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization for her work. She emphasized her high responsibility and care of each member of Samgori branch organization. ESFTUG’s president spoke about the importance of the festival "fabulous world" held on 2 June 2018 by organizing and initiating the head of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization. This type of festival was held for the first time in the capital and 5-6 years children participated in it. "The festival has contributed to children's cultural upbringing and to raise motivation for kindergartens’ representatives" - said Maia Kobakhidze. ESFTUG’s president thanked Tamar Gurashvili, principal of public school # 152 for unselfish support and assistance. Invited guests addressed conference delegates and expressed their approaches to the challenges in education. Delegates discussed actually issues in debate format: Marina Mamardashvili, teacher of public school #124 spoke about the ritual and bureaucratic activities of the teachers and therefore the teachers have less time for the pupil and the lesson. The speaker pointed the mass media’s campaign against teachers and demanded to evaluate teacher activities and increase the authority. "When Ms. Maia Kobakhidze was speaking, I remembered the period of 2012-2013, when the trade union started to restore the ruined organization. The reason why I stood up with them was the inspiration for the combat spirit... This strong team gave me the inspiration that teachers should create a strong professional union with the support of the strong leaders of the trade union for protection teachers’ rights... Union membership gives us the guarantees of protection of our rights and the teachers must through our activity should strengthen our professional union" - said Marina Mamardashvili, teacher of public school N124. Manana Turmanidze, teacher of Samtori district kindergarten #169, thanked Guliko Amilidze, for supporting the staff of the pre-school institutions. She talked about the overweight number of children in kindergartens and low salaries. Teacher of the public school #94 Eter Saakashvili proudly stated that the primary school organization chose her as a delegate of the conference. She regretted said that the socio-economic situation of the teachers is still unfavorable. Tina Butskhrikidze, music teacher of the kindergarten N115 spoke about loading of music teachers and their inappropriate salaries. "Every event in kindergarten is a result of the great work and efforts of music teachers, while music pedagogues’ monthly salary do not exceed 180 lari" - said Ms. Tina Butskhrikidze. N181 kindergarten’s Director Manana Modebadze talked about the importance of ESFTUG’s activities, about the responsible liability of kindergartens’ directors and their low salaries. Teacher’s assistant of kindergarten N197 Ia Obgaidze expressed gratitude to ESFTUG for the 1 June event organized for the mothers and their children. Teacher of the public school N152 Dali Chigogidze thanked Guliko Amilidze for her warmth and attention. She noted that Ms. Guliko cares about the problems of the district employees and the anniversary dates. N168 public school teacher Zakro Makhatadze expressed his gratitude to the unskilled work of the ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization Guliko Amilidze. "A part of teachers often say what the trade union is doing for us. Personally, I think this question is praise, because in most of the cases the problems do not even come to the teachers, they are dealing by the trade union, which is the result of great work and we trust to our organization"- said Zakro Makhatadze. The conference delegates unanimously positively assessed the activities of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization and expressed confidence to Guliko Ammadidze for further four-year. The membership of the council of ESFTUG’s Samgori branch organization was approved and delegates of the ESFTUG’s IX reporting-electing congress were elected. At the end of the conference, ESFTUG’s president and head of Samgori branch organization awarded the trade union members, merited teachers and social partners with the certificates.
