Newspaper “Kronika” dedicated an article to recent processes happening around Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia. According to the journalist, the organization has one official and one unofficial president and government has successfully deprived the union from main financial income – membership dues.
As Maia Kobakhidze stated in an interview, the union hopes that the order of 30 November will normalize due payment system and relations with the Ministry will be eventually improved.
Viktoria Balavadze, the coordinator of ESFTUG Logistics Department, indicated that the main problem that the union faces right now is financial blockade. Despite reaching agreement in summer, we received unofficial information that the director, who will sign collective agreement with the trade union, will be dismissed from occupied position. Ms Balavadze noted that teachers openly admit that they left the union because of growing oppression from Resource Centers. She also emphasized that the organization did not stop functioning and will offer legal help to teachers, whose rights have been violated.
ESFTUG lawyer, Tamar Avaliani said that currently, ESFTUG legal department represents 8 unlawfully dismissed teachers in court.  According to her, during negotiation process, one of the directors has secretely admitted that he had received an order to dismiss the teacher, otherwise he himself would be dismissed from appointed position.
