According to the statement released by ESFTUG earlier today, the union hopes that the relations with the Ministry of Education will be improved.
ESFTUG responds to the Ministry's decision concerning legal relations between school administrations and trade unions. More specifically, schools are now obliged to put existing practice regarding the dues check-off in compliance with the law requirements.
ESFTUG agrees with the Ministry that affiliation to trade union is a basic right of every citizen granted by Constitution and every teacher shall make the decision on joining the association based on his/her free choice. Due-paying practice is determined on the basis of personal written application of a teacher, in accordance with the terms and conditions defined in the collective agreement.
The relations between the Ministry and the Trade union have become strained since ESFTUG could not receive its membership dues. Ex-president, Manana Ghurchumalidze blamed the Ministry for blocking membership fee transfer from schools.
