“We are the memory – Teaching History, learning conversation”

January 27-28, Krakow

The International Conference of Education Trade Unions, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, brought together representatives from 20 countries to reflect on history and solidarity.

Maia Kobakhidze, President of the Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia (ESFTUG), delivered a powerful presentation on the deep-rooted ties between Georgia and the Jewish people, highlighting stories of solidarity, sacrifice, and shared history. Her words were met with enthusiastic applause and heartfelt gratitude from Jewish colleagues.

On the second day, a professor from the University of Warsaw, independently of Ms. Maya’s presentation, emphasized the 26-century-old relationship between Georgians and Jews, which was carried out within the framework of a joint project between students from universities in Georgia and Warsaw.
