UN international day of education

Following the UN adoption of Resolution N: 73/25, January 24th is declared as the International Day of Education.

Setting the annual celebration of the International Day of Education is to identify the role of education in guaranteeing the peace in the world and ensuring the development of democratic processes in the countries.

The Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia, an affiliated member of the European Region of Educational International (ETUCE), welcomes the UN Resolution on declaring January 24 "the International Day of Education" and promotes the celebration of this date in Georgia.

On January 25, 2019, European Director of European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) Susan Flocken addresses the European Commission's Education Forum on the Future of Learning, where she will speak about the issues of digitalization and education, which affect the future of societies.

At a special conference in 2018 In Athens, we, the ETUCE member organizations started the campaign “Shape the Future of Europe with Teachers” which aims to advocate the role of education, especially the involvement of teachers in creating a peaceful learning and teaching environment.

ETUCE member organizations work at national level within these campaigns on suggestions and recommendations which provide education issues, facilitate the development of teachers' skills for raising the attractiveness of the teacher's profession, the critical thinking of the students and the development of democratic civil society, improving teachers’ working conditions and ensuring that they are adequate to the rapidly growing global trends.
